Broke ("we", "our", "us") operates the Broke: Claim Your Cash mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information to provide our services:
- Quiz Responses: Employment status, housing situation, income range, state of residence, education status, dependents, and insurance status. Used to calculate your eligible benefits.
- Profile Data: A randomly generated display name. No real name is required.
- Email Address: Optionally provided after purchase for receiving claim guides.
- Progressive Details: When using the AI agent, you may voluntarily provide additional information such as your name, address, and income details to help with specific applications.
- Device Information: Device model, iOS version, and screen size for analytics and app optimization.
- Usage Data: Screen views, feature usage, and interaction patterns to improve the app experience.
- Purchase History: In-app purchase status via Apple StoreKit.
How We Use Your Information
- Calculate your eligibility for government benefits, tax credits, and financial programs
- Provide personalized AI agent assistance for applications
- Generate documents (demand letters, application answers, appeal letters)
- Send transactional emails (claim guides, welcome emails) if you provide an email
- Improve app functionality and user experience through analytics
- Display your position on the community leaderboard (using your generated username only)
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS) with row-level security policies ensuring you can only access your own data. Sensitive information is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain.
We do not store your full Social Security Number. If you provide the last 4 digits to the AI agent, it is stored in our database with row-level security restrictions.
Anonymous Authentication
The app uses anonymous authentication. No email, password, or personal identity is required to create an account. Your account is tied to your device. If you delete and reinstall the app, your data may be lost unless you have linked an Apple ID.
Third-Party Services
- Supabase: Database and authentication (supabase.com)
- Anthropic (Claude AI): AI agent responses are processed through Anthropic's API. Your conversation data is sent to Anthropic for processing but is not used to train their models.
- Superwall: Paywall presentation and purchase management (superwall.com)
- Resend: Email delivery for claim guides (resend.com)
- Apple StoreKit: In-app purchase processing
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete all your data at any time through the app's Settings by tapping "WIPE MY RECORD." This permanently deletes all your information from our servers.
Your Rights
- Access: View your data through the app's profile and settings screens.
- Deletion: Delete all your data via Settings. This removes your information from all our databases.
- Portability: Contact us to request a copy of your data.
Children's Privacy
Broke is not intended for users under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Last updated" date.
